Oasis - Wonderwall : Textual Analysis

The band use their official logo on a vinyl record at the beginning of the video , this is used to not only promote and advertise the band but also make a connection with original forms of music showing they are in the business purely for the love of music and therefore demonstrating to the audience that the band came from humble beginnings and are not purely in the business to earn money. However it could also go against this by showing the audience that there music is quite literally available on vinyl therefore encouraging the viewer to buy their music.

This screenshot shows Noel Gallagher sat alone in an empty space through the use of a long shot demonstrating to the audience how focussed he is on his music and it is the main priority in his life and has no other distractions. I also believe it demonstrates how much of his life is dedicated to making music due to the fact he is sat alone. He obviously enjoys alone time with just him and his guitar demonstrating to the audience how much he enjoys making music for them to listen to, this could be viewed as an advertising process as that is the main aim of a music video, although I believe this is not the case I believe this video is used to show the qualities of the band and how much they are focussed on their music. This doesn't follow one of Andrew Goodwin's conventions as one of them states: there is a relationship between music and visuals which is not true in the case of this shot therefore the convention does not apply.

This screenshot taken from the video shows Noel Gallagher again sat by himself with his guitar , the background and everything else in the shot is black and white , whereas the guitar is a vivid blue colour , I believe this is used to show noels connection with his guitar and with music itself therefore suggesting his guitar is his most treasured possession and he sees it in a different light to what normal people would see it as. This adheres to one of Goodwin's conventions which is music videos adhere to genre characteristics which I would say is true in the case of this music video as the indie/rock genre is usually quit alternative and this is shown throughout the video with the editing and the choice of attire for the band.
